Friday Faves

November 19, 2021November 18, 2021 / battsabroad / Leave a comment

Hi friends! Things on campus are still pretty well locked-down because of the Covid cases, so we’ve spent a lot of time at home this week, trying not to drive each other totally crazy. That means, our kids have built some forts… Done lots of kindergarten work… And read books - Ruth read this one … Continue reading Friday Faves

Some Weeks…

November 12, 2021November 11, 2021 / battsabroad / Leave a comment

Some weeks, we get to share lots of fun photos and exciting things that happened: ministry events, Bible studies, family outings, and more. Then other weeks, we get to meekly report that we left our apartment one time in five days in order to check the mail (and that only happened after we were told … Continue reading Some Weeks…

We had such a busy weekend last weekend, followed by a busy week… and here we are, Friday again! Let’s do a day-by-day look: Last Friday, Ruth invited three (18- and 19-year old) friends (who work in the garderie) over for dinner. It was so sweet - she had asked me earlier in the week … Continue reading Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!

We woke up this morning to frost on the ground and sub-freezing temperatures to usher in the weekend! So of course, Allen and I had coffee on our couch and enjoyed our YouTube fireplace together. But here’s a glimpse of our last week: We spent last Saturday celebrating Allen’s birthday opening presents, enjoying breakfast and … Continue reading Happy Friday!

Happy Friday, Y’all!

October 15, 2021October 14, 2021 / battsabroad / Leave a comment

As of this afternoon, we are officially on our mid-term break and we. are. thankful. Somehow over the last week or so, all the kids caught some colds (changes in the season? new germs? not sure what caused them) and Allen and I are barely fending them off, too. So we're looking forward to a … Continue reading Happy Friday, Y’all!

We have Monday off (happy Thanksgiving, Canada!), so we’re looking at a three-day weekend and feeling very thankful for that! So here are five other things we’re thankful for: Last Saturday, I spent the day with my friend Kristy at her church’s women’s retreat! It rained all day, but it was so encouraging spending time … Continue reading Five Favorites

As I tried typing the title of today’s post, it auto-corrected to Fork Day Favorites. So maybe that should be a thing one day. (That day isn’t today.) Here are some highlights from the week: Nearly everyday, Ruth and Clara are playing outside with their sweet friend. They like to go to the “basketball poops,” … Continue reading Friday Favorites

MK Stories & Friday Faves

September 17, 2021September 16, 2021 / battsabroad / Leave a comment

Earlier this week, Allen and the kids made a new Missionary Kids (MK) story, giving a tour of the campus. It’s adorable. If you haven’t seen it yet, set aside three or four minutes and watch the clip here. Please pay special attention to when Hudson says “Ta da!” because it makes my heart sing. … Continue reading MK Stories & Friday Faves

Happy Friday, friends! It’s been a full and fun and exhausting week for us (which is normal, I guess). Here are some of our favorites! We attended a church service outside here at Parole de Vie on Sunday, which meant Ruth and her friend could spend most of the service coloring together on the grass. … Continue reading Friday Favorites

Five Photos on Friday

Week one of in-person class is in the books! Allen’s Advanced class is moving along at a nice clip. His accent is improving, his vocabulary is increasing, and he’s making great strides. Meanwhile, I spend mornings in Bible survey and theology classes, trying to understand the French terminology. Afternoons are in other French classes to … Continue reading Five Photos on Friday

We're the Batts family, serving in Québec with ABWE Canada.
Learn more about us!
Ruth, Clara, and Hudson are ready to talk all about the things we’re taking to Quebec City when we move, their time at the ranch in Oregon with Mimi and Papa, and what we’ve been up to since getting home. We took the kids up to see all the things we brought over from Alaska for our apartment in Quebec, which are currently stored in a cabin on campus. We’re all excited to move and settle into our new home in a couple weeks! UPDATE: Success!! Importing the Jeep went really well. Next on our list: a vehicle inspection and getting Quebec license plates. We are finally home! Well, at least for the next few weeks before we move to Quebec City. Finally shared a quick recap of our trip through Canada on our website - www.battsabroad.com After driving through six other provinces (and Alaska) we are back in Quebec! We’re still about 10 hours from home, but we are so thankful for God’s protection, mercy, and provision on this trip. Thank you to everyone who has been praying. 🇨🇦♥️ Day ✌🏻 and we’re crossing into Canada after a good night’s sleep in Tok. Starting our long drive back to Quebec! Today’s goal: reach Tok. We successfully changed our missions display at our sending church… now the transition to Québec feels even more real than before!
