Our weekend was swamped. From sleepovers with friends to road trips to trying to do all the things at home, we didn’t really start this week off on the right foot.
However, God is always faithful, isn’t He? We made it through Monday by God’s grace upon grace.
Now that we’re a week into classes, the day-in, day-out of language learning is catching back up to us. At least 8 hours a day are devoted to class, studying, doing assignments, practicing, etc. The rest of the day is spent caring for le ménage (housework), les enfants (kids), and notre mariage (our marriage). We’re seeing more and more how language learning really is a full time job.
So as you think of us this week, here’s how you can pray for us:
- For continued sanctification. Pray that God will continue to root out the things of the flesh and replace them with things of the Spirit.
- For success in language learning. Pray we will be diligent to study, practice, and complete the assignments before us.
- For Hudson’s arm. We have a follow-up appointment on May 25th; until then, pray God will knit his bones back together correctly.
We also want to share a quick story about God’s faithfulness to provide for what we need. The last few months, we’ve struggled to feel “normal” – we were constantly busy, feeling attacked by Satan, struggling in new ways, and feeling like we were the only ones. So we made an appointment to speak with the missions pastor at our church here in Tennessee. He encouraged us that yes, what we are experiencing is perfectly normal for missionaries. And that yes, others have been there too. He invited us to a small group the church developed just for missionaries who are way-laid because of COVID. Some are home on extended furloughs, some are waiting to get to the field, and others are retired missionaries. For the last two weeks, we’ve been so blessed by that Sunday morning fellowship. We’re excited to see how God continues to use it to grow us and prepare us for Togo.
