Friday Faves

What a week: A trip to share at a wonderful church, end of classes, getting Allen ready for a trip… phew.

Last Saturday, we drove north east to visit some sweet friends who pastored a church in Kodiak, AK. Pastor Gary now pastors Point Pleasant Baptist Church in Newport, TN. We were so excited to go visit them for the weekend. It was a nice a little break from school and home life. Plus, a lady at their church is from Togo, so we had dinner with her and her husband Saturday night – We practiced our French some, chatted about Togo, and had such a fun time.

Our family and Lebe, who is from a town about an hour north of Kara, Togo.

On Sunday, we spoke at church about what God is calling our family to. The church gave a VERY generous gift to our family that will pay for a lot of the “extra” things we still need to get for our shipping container. We ate lunch with Pastor Gary and Ms. Candy then scooted on home to study for our finals.

Our family and the Elmore’s at their house.

It was so nice going into finals week feeling rested and encouraged! I feel like sharing at the church this last weekend gave us renewed vision and purpose for studying French. This is Kingdom work.

Finals kicked off on Monday. Allen had one everyday Monday through Thursday. I had three on Tuesday and one on Wednesday. We both passed our exams with flying colors and now have a long weekend break before the next term starts on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, we heard that ABWE was giving its missionaries a salary raise. We were immediately thankful, but also knew we’d have to raise that extra support ourselves. Well, guess what! That required increase was noted on our ABWE account this week… and the same day, we saw a new partner join our team! We are so thankful and it was such a sweet reminder that God sees every need and meets every need.

This weekend is the memorial service for a dear friend and mentor from Alaska, so Allen packed a backpack for himself and two totes for our shipping container. He is flying up today for the weekend. We’re thankful for friends who are opening their home to him, doing late night airport runs, eating dinner with Allen, and just walking alongside him this weekend.

If you think of us, pray for Allen traveling this weekend and for me and the kids. We have a busy weekend planned: it’s the annual women’s conference at church, I’m going to a new small group, and I have VBS training. The kids will have to spend a lot of time with friends and in childcare. So pray that we still get some fun times together.

Anyway, have a great weekend, friends! We love you.

  1. Praying for safe travels, a solid weekend with the ladies conference and that the children will enjoy the weekend in their own unique ways.

    Psalm 20:7-9
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
    8 They collapse and fall,
but we rise and stand upright.

The Lord will provide what is needed when it’s needed, amen 🙏🏻
