There was a 100% chance of rain yesterday… and it rained just enough to wet the sidewalks and erase our chalk art from last week.
And in fact, it is supposed to rain pretty steadily for then next two days. So goodbye, beautiful sunshine weather we celebrated last week and hello, cozy tea and sweater weather! We’ll celebrate you, too.

My parents are in town for a couple of days and things are busy here. Here’s how you can be praying for our family this week:
- This morning we are sharing with a group of new ABWE missionaries going through orientation. Pray for words to speak as we encourage them to follow the calling God has given them.
- Tonight, we are sharing about Togo and missions with the AWANA kids at Hillside Baptist Church in Anchorage via Zoom. Pray, again, for words to speak and that God would use that time to spark a fire for missions in the hearts of everyone who hears.
- We have more French tests coming up this week and lots of assignments. Pray for continued success in our learning, understanding, and ability to speak French.
I’m trying not to feel overwhelmed, trying not to stress, and trying to just take things one day at a time.
I’m thankful for God’s faithfulness, goodness, and patience. I’m thankful for His never-ending love that meets us where we are and moves us forward. I’m thankful for the calling He gave our family and for you who encourage us along the way.
Have a great week, and thank you so much for your continued prayers!
Father we lift up these requests, and we ask for your will to be done in the lives of those who have the opportunity to interact with the Batts family as they share and encourage the church to consider missions. We know that you are a missionary God, and that your mandate is for us (your children) to take the gospel to the ends of the earth (to all people groups). Bless the work of the those engaged in the local and global aspects. Bless and strengthen those who pray, those who send, those who mobilizes, and those who go. Build your kingdom Lord, in Jesus name, amen.
Thank you so much, Matt.
