A Week in Review

I don’t even know where to start with his week! I mean, wow. Acceptance to language school. New partners. Starting to sort out a shipping container. Plus all the normal life stuff like work projects, homework, raising kids, etc. Phew.

I talked with a precious, precious friend this week. She’s the kind of friend you could talk to once every 6 months or more and it’s always like no time has passed at all. We caught up on all sorts of stuff and laughed and prayed and I’m pretty sure I almost cried because this is a friend who gets it and knows me.

So that was a good start to the week.

Ruthie got a haircut! For weeks, she’d been saying that she wanted a haircut like mine, so last Saturday, we went together to get some trims.

Hudson got a haircut, too. Someone called him a girl at the store the other day, so Allen said it was time. Bittersweet. But so handsome, too!

Kids played together with Legos for HOURS this week. We built houses and ponds and playgrounds and all the things.

We had some family pictures taken last Saturday, too – look how cute!

We also celebrated Hudson’s first birthday with donuts and hanging out.

I guess to wrap this up, I’ll just be honest. Pre-field is wonderful and hard. It is simultaneously looking forward with lots of excitement and anticipation and looking around us with sadness in preparation of saying goodbye. It’s trying to balance life now while preparing for life then. Already and not yet.

We’re in the same spot in eternity: the “already and not yet.” Christ has already come as a baby, given His life on the cross, resurrected, and returned to heaven. But He has not yet returned to take up His Church. We already have the power of the Holy Spirit within us, but are not yet experiencing His fullness in this world.

So that was our week. We are looking forward to a weekend of planning, coffee, and (maybe) some sleep. Have a great weekend, friends!
