Happy Birthday, Hudson James!

One year ago today, we welcomed you into our home after of 37 hours of back labor. I’d done all I could for you to be in the right position, little boy, but you refused to cooperate. In hindsight, that seems like a precursor to your persistent personality. You are growing into an amazing boy and we love celebrating you.

At one year old, you still love to snuggle. You’ll crawl up to me as soon as I get home from work, whimpering to be held. Then you’ll snuggle into my left shoulder, your little arm wrapped around my neck. I could hold you like this all day… but your sisters don’t allow it.

You love Duplo Legos… especially when the girls aren’t around and you have full access to the bin. I can’t wait to see all the creations you build in the coming years.

You aren’t sleeping through the night, but sometimes you’ll give me from 11:00pm-5:00am. Thank you for that. Every time you wake up, you want to nurse again, snuggled together in the glider in your mountain-painted bedroom.

You love to eat food… and you love to throw it onto the floor, too. Oggie isn’t there to eat it any more, but you still look around for her periodically.

You laugh when Ruth and Clara run laps around the house. You try to chase after them, but you can’t go as fast on your hands and knees. You’ll get there, bub – sooner rather than later!

Your first year was tough, kiddo. We battled together through illnesses, scary doctors appointments, and lots of changes. But you’ve navigated it all with a smile and a snuggle. I hope that never changes.

Happy birthday, sweet boy. We’re your biggest fans.
