We recently posted a fun little interview with Allen so you could get to know him a little more. Because here’s the thing – some of you may only really know us through this little corner of the Internet or our other regular communications. And we want you to have a little more insight into the things that make us…. well, us.
So today, I answered a few random questions, too!
1. Are you into podcasts or do you only listen to music?
“I listen to podcasts, too. I like Risen Motherhood, 5 Minutes in Church History, Read-Aloud Revival, and The Missions Podcast. There’s also a new one out about The Office which I’d love to listen to but haven’t yet.”
2. Do you have a favorite holiday? Why or why not?
“Christmas. Obviously, it’s when we celebrate Jesus’ birthday. But the last four Christmases, I’ve either been pregnant or had a newborn, so it’s fun to reflect on what that first Christmas was like for Mary.”
3. What’s your “Death Row Meal”?
“Probably something Mexican. I think I could eat Mexican food everyday and be happy.”
4. Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching at home?
“Home. When we first got married, we had no furniture, except our bed, kitchen table, and one recliner. So we got used to just watching movies on a laptop in bed. And that’s still my all-time favorite place to watch a movie or Netflix.”
5. What’s your favorite sleeping position?
“On my side, facing away from the bed.”
6. What’s your go-to guilty pleasure?
“I mean, I don’t ever feel guilty about it, but I like to just watch a show on Netflix and knit or crochet. I don’t get to do it often, but when I do, it’s so nice.”
7. In the summer, would you rather sleep with the window open or blast the AC?
“This is Alaska. We don’t have AC. So the windows open, by default. When we move to Africa, that might change.”
8. What’s your favorite quote from a TV show/movie/book?
“I’m so bad at remembering quotes and names of things. Like, movie and book names or celebrity’s names are not something that I commit space in my brain to. I know I’ve read and heard some really good quotes, but unless I write them down immediately, I don’t remember them.”
9. How old were you when you had your first celebrity crush and who was it?
“Ha, speaking of celebrity names… my first celebrity crush was Aaron Carter. I don’t even know where I heard his music or heard of him. But I was maybe like 10? 11? Somewhere around there.”
10. What’s one thing that can instantly make your day better?
“Coffee. But I have to really intentionally remind myself sometimes, ‘My hope is not in coffee (or sleep or a hot shower). My hope is in Christ.’ There was a time when I thought, ‘If I just had a cup of coffee or could sleep more, everything would be fine!’ And that’s not true. I had to repent of that mindset and preach the Gospel to myself – it’s only Christ who gives hope and makes anything better. But I do still like coffee. And sleep.”
