We have much to be thankful for in our lives. But how much time do I waste grumbling around about some minute thing instead of praising and thanking God? Too much.
I’m thankful for salvation. So thankful. I’m thankful for the Holy Spirit and His working in my life. I’m thankful for God, who is just and wise and loving and righteous and is the Creator of all beautiful things (like the irises blooming in our front yard).
I’m thankful for our health. I’m thankful for a husband who works hard outside in the yard. I’m thankful for friends (Fred and Betty, Calvin) who help us out with watching our kids and splitting wood, respectively. I’m thankful for talks with friends we haven’t connected with in a long time and how it feels like we talked just yesterday.
I’m thankful we attend a church where the youth serve our church and community every summer (and that they are helping us with some yard projects today so these girlies can keep exploring safely outside).
I’m thankful for the time on Sunday when we all (all five of us!) took a nap at the same time. I told Allen it was the best Fathers Day gift we could ever give him, but as James 1:17 says
I’m thankful for family and friends and friends-like-family who ask how we are doing and listen to the answer, who lean into our messy and busy lives instead of inching away slowly. I’m thankful for the Spirit who binds is in unity across cultural barriers and time zones.
I’m thankful God hears the cries of our hearts, that the Spirit prays on our behalf when we don’t know what to pray, and that Christ Himself intercedes for us.
We are blessed, y’all. And we are praising God for you this week.
