Facebook’s Artificial Intelligence team mapped the entire population of Africa to within about 30 meters of where they live by matching census data with satellite images of structures/houses.

The outcome is pretty remarkable:

According to this article, the goal of this project is to map and portray population density to help reach and support rural regions around the world.
