The Missionary Life Cycle

The other day (I don’t even remember where or when), I saw a link to an article called “The Missionary Life Cycle (In Five Stages)”.

Reading it made me laugh and I wanted to share it here, too.

Click here to read the article.

Currently, Allen and I are in stage one: Idealist/Ignorant – Pre-field. But I’d like to think we are more idealist than ignorant…

We are excited about how the Lord can use our family in Togo but, having served overseas on short term trips, we know it isn’t a smooth sailing vacation. We don’t know the language. We don’t know the culture. We don’t know how to do daily life (for longer than 2 or 3 weeks) in West Africa.

But we are willing to learn.

That’s one reason we are excited about our site visit in May. It will be a chance to not only meet the Togo South team, but hear about their ministries and vision and see how our family fits into those.

Anyway, enjoy the article! If you know any missionaries in a particular stage, pray for them in that stage. All of the stages are different and challenging in their own ways.
