The Way to Joy

We are continuing our mini-series of resources help engage people in missions, discipleship, and more. Today we are focusing on a Bible study that provides the foundation of discipleship.

But first: let’s link back to some of the other resources we’ve highlighted so far:

The Way to Joy is kind of part two to The Story of Hope, in that it opens by building on the Big Story outlined in that evangelistic study. The Way to Joy provides the basics of discipleship for someone who is a new believer or someone who has not yet experienced growth in their spiritual life.

Topics include:

  • The security of salvation
  • Living in the power of the Holy Spirit
  • The significance of the local church
  • God’s plan for your life
  • The power of prayer
  • and more!

In addition to the Bible studies, the book includes a Bible reading and prayer plan, scriptures to memorize that coordinate with each topic, and questions to help guide conversation between participants.

This study would work well one-on-one or in a small group setting. The key, though, is being able to really engage in tough conversations. Because it is designed for a relatively new believer, participants may have limited understanding about Scripture, the disciplines of Christian life, and more. The leader should be able to answer questions honestly and Biblically.

I want to close this post with Psalm 16:11

Psalm 16 11

The “way to joy” is walking faithfully with the Lord… and I pray that that is something we all seek to do!
