Happy happy Friday!
I went to the eye doctor this week for my annual check-up. She said everything is holding steady – my vision hasn’t changed much in the last 3 years or so. I picked out new frames though and am so excited to get them next week. While examining my eyes, the doctor said, “Oh, I see your allergies are kicking in.” WHAT?! Who knew you could tell someone had allergies through an eye exam?! I felt fine, so I didn’t really believe her. But after I got home, Allen wanted to adventure outside…
… and before I even went to bed that night, I could feel my allergies ramping up. Sure enough, I woke up the next morning feeling pretty crummy. Welcome, spring!
This made me laugh – get ALL the allergies!! #storyofmylife
Allen and I imagined and made a commitment to monthly dates this year that include being out of the house with a babysitter watching the girls. So the first Saturday of every month, we go out! It’s been so nice. So far, we have painted pottery, had delicious sushi, travelled (twice, actually – in January and March, our “dates” were just trips together!), and just enjoyed time to invest in our marriage. Well, tomorrow, we are going to brunch! There’s a local restaurant we’ve been wanting to try that (apparently) serves great breakfast, so we’re planning a trip there in the morning. I’m excited to have breakfast and coffee with Allen. We are on a crazy adventure right now and it’s so important to us to take a step back, hang out, and reconnect.
We try not to talk finances a lot on here, because #boring, but this was a HUGE week for us: We are officially at 12% of our monthly funding! In addition, we have verbal commitments for another 3% monthly, several friends who have expressed desiring to partner with us monthly for yet-unknown amounts, and we are praying FLBC partners with us for about 25% of our monthly need. All in, this would place us at over 40%! It is seriously a miracle, done only by the hand and grace of God. We’ve been working at partnership development for just about 2 weeks now and in that time span, we are looking at being 40% funded. If that isn’t a straight-up miracle, I don’t know what is.
This is especially important because our goal is to reach at least 50% by mid-June, which will allow us to attend a required training ABWE only offers once a year (in July) for pre-fielders who are at 50%. We are continuing to pray that God brings the partners He wants us to have in His timing, and in the meantime, we are diligently working towards achieving our goal so that He is glorified!
Please know, our hearts’ desire is really to glorify the Lord in our pre-field ministry. We love meeting with people and expressing the vision God has given us for serving Him in Togo. But we love hearing what God is doing in others’ lives, too – how jobs are going, and families, and ministries they are involved in. We love talking and laughing (and sometimes crying – mostly on my part) over lunch/dinner/dessert/coffee, while kids run around screaming. We love connecting with people. For us, it isn’t about the money – it’s truly about relationship: with God first and with others second.
We are so thankful for the partners He has brought us, but we are even more thankful for the relationships that have started and grown throughout this process.
Thank you so much for joining us on this wild ride, friends.
