Faith

I had a few spare minutes before leaving for work this morning, so I pulled out THIS daily devotional and read today’s entry.  And it was all about FAITH.

In it, the author writes from Jesus’ perspective – what she imagines Christ would say to His followers. And on this day, she wrote the following excerpt:

When I observe you dashing forth willingly to face the challenges I send your way, and when I watch you leap forward with faith’s banner into uncharted arenas with no sure outcome in sight, I turn to the angels and exclaim, ‘See there? See the faith of My beloved?’…When I hold in My arms the bales of prayers you fire up to Me… I’m so pleased.

One of the verses included in today’s devotional was 1 Thessalonians 5:24 – “The One who called you is faithful and He will do it.” God has called us. He is faithful. He will do it.

A sweet friend and colleague shared a quote with us yesterday. St. Augustine is originally credited with saying, “Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.” My dependence on God is most obvious through how I pray. As I lay it all before Him in faith, I can trust that He is faithful and will do that which He called us to.

In spite of the lengthy to-do list, in spite of the waiting, in spite of the unknowns, we can trust in Him. He is so worthy and good.
